Frontrunners of 2016 race: Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump who is self-funded and has barely touched his wallet

Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders have shaken up the US presidential race with decisive victories in the New Hampshire primary
Billionaire Mr Trump is likely to get more than twice the number of votes of the next Republican candidate.
Senator Bernie Sanders, who beat Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by a huge margin, said his victory showed people wanted "real change".
Both candidates are riding on a wave of discontent with mainstream politics.
The aim of the primary race is to choose which candidates will represent the Republican and Democratic parties in November's presidential election.
Senator Bernie Sanders, running for the first time as a Democrat, won overwhelmingly; The amazing thing is that Trump has barely touched his wallet or run a real campaign yet he has managed to crush all comers. Edward Rollins (a member of the Political Consultants Hall of Fame): "Sanders, Trump and more. Fasten your seatbelt, America, this is gonna be one helluva ride".
There was no surprise at the top of the polls with the results, it was only the size of their landslide victories. The liberal winner Senator Bernie Sanders, running for the first time as a Democrat, won overwhelmingly and crushed the alleged inevitable nominee Mrs. Clinton by more than 20 points. Sanders cannot be dismissed and now is a real contender.
As expected, Donald Trump, former Democrat, one time independent, and now Republican, carried the GOP side by two to one and again has to be viewed as the frontrunner. The amazing thing is that Trump has barely touched his wallet or run a real campaign yet he has managed to crush all comers. He will certainly run a serious campaign now and the Republican presidential nomination is a real possibility. As often happens in New Hampshire, many voters, 4 in 10, didn't make up their minds until the last hours.
Incredible campaign-finance report - Trump said. "To be number one in every poll, both state and national, and to have spent the least amount of dollars of any serious candidate is a testament to what I can do for America." He added: "This is what our country's leaders should do for the United States — spend money wisely and win!"
Trump Is Self-Funding Majority of His Campaign for the First Time
Donald Trump is now doing what many doubted — investing his own funds in an increasingly organized national campaign. Trump released new financial data about his campaign late Sunday night, as required by federal election law, and the numbers suggest an operation built for the long haul. Over the past three months, Trump funded his campaign with $10.8 million in loans and a $100,000 donation, his largest personal investment to date. Supporters also donated $2.6 million, with the most money coming from Florida and California.
Fortune Jan 28, 2016 - Jeb Bush Donors Say He Is 'Burning Money'. Jeb Bush has been spending big on his presidential campaign, including ads, private planes, and luxury hotels. That has donors concerned.
Jeb Bush has been spending big as he criss-crosses the country touting his plans for the U.S. if he becomes its newest president. While private planes and high-priced dinners aren’t out of the ordinary for presidential candidates, many donors are concerned over Bush’s current spending spree. Bush’s campaign, through his own war chest and his super PAC, Right to Rise, has spent at least $82 million in operating costs through the third quarter of 2015 and on advertising through this month, reported Reuters. Nearly $1.2 million alone was spent on private planes. For comparison, Hillary Clinton spent $700,000 and Ted Cruz spent $158,000 on private planes over the same time period. Eleven of 16 major donors raised concerns about the spending. One said bluntly: “They are burning money.”
“Look, this is not the election cycle to be spending like a silver-spoon establishment candidate,” another donor told Reuters. “It just doesn’t look right.”
October 6, 2015 WashingtonPost: "Donald Trump has spent only $2 million on his entire campaign. That’s brilliant." Trump has spent far less than his opponents.
NbcNews - The numbers reinforce Trump's sales pitch about his cost-effective style, which he pledges to bring to Washington: "I have spent almost nothing on my run for president and am in 1st place," he wrote on Twitter in late December. "Jeb Bush has spent $59 million & done. Run the country my way!"
The new data shows Trump is willing to invest more of his own wealth, even as he succeeds in the polls.
Trump spent far less than most of his rivals last quarter.
Clinton and Sanders both topped $30 million,
Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz each spent about $15 million,
while Trump spent just $6.9 million.
