\n\nKing Charles III appears on new UK banknotes for first time<\/a>
\nKing Charles III made his official debut on the UK\u2019s money, with the Bank of England unveiling its first banknotes featuring the new monarch Tuesday.

\n\nThe revamped currency bearing the king\u2019s likeness will enter into circulation from mid-2024 to gradually replace those featuring his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. Charles became king in September following Queen Elizabeth\u2019s death at age 96 after 70 years on the throne.

\n\nThe new 5-, 10-, 20- and 50-pound polymer banknotes feature a portrait of Charles on the front, as well as a cameo of him in the banknotes\u2019 see-through security window, but are otherwise unchanged from their current designs.

\n\nThe reverse side of the money will also remain unchanged, with portraits of Prime Minister Winston Churchill on the 5-pound notes, author Jane Austen on the 10-pound notes, artist JMW Turner on the 20-pound ones and computer scientist Alan Turing on the 50-pound notes.
